In spring, many bird species migrate. They are traveling from their wintering grounds in the south to their breeding areas.

Birds of prey, such as Red and Black Kite, are examples of this. Every year, they are spotted on Texel during the spring migration.
Another species that can often be seen in the dunes at this time is the Ring Ouzel.

In the coming weeks, small groups of Ruffs will undoubtedly appear. This former breeding bird of the Netherlands is often found in the Waalenburg polder. With a bit of luck, the males will display their mock fights.
