The Krim forest is a landscaped forest that is located in the north of Texel. At this time of year there is a lot of bird activity. Siskins feed in the Alders. A small group of about 8 Hawfinches find seeds on the ground. Mistle Thrushes migrate this time of the year and forage on the nearby fields. Song Thrushes are emphatically heard, as are Great and Blue Tits and an early Chiffchaff. We can now also hear the loud drumming of the Great Spotted Woodpeckers. On Texel this species is a general breeding bird. In the last two weeks a Lesser Spotted Woodpecker has been seen several times. This approx 15 cm small dwarf is a vagrant on Texel.
