Vuurgoudhaan / Firecrest Regulus ignicapilla, 1 ex, de Tuintjes, De Cocksdorp, Texel, 24-09-2017

On September 14th, approximately 400 Great Skuas migrated at a strong west wind along the Texel North Sea coast.

Since September 15th there is another new species on the Texel avifauna list. On this date, an Arctic Warbler was discovered in Oosterend. The bird showed itself beautifully for a few hours. Unfortunately, the rare "phyllo" was not found again next day.

From September 18th an adult Red-breasted Goose stays among a group of about 200 Barnacle Geese in Polder Zeeburg.

On September 22, a possible Greater Short-toed Lark was seen at Jan Ayeslag.

On September 28, a possible Siberian Lesser Whitethroat was observed in the 'Tuintjes'. The last observation date is 30 September.

Striking were the reports of Lesser Spotted Woodpecker in the northern part of the island. This rare species of Texel has been observed more frequently in recent years. Other notable facts; some migrating Red-throated Pipits and Richard's Pipits, a small influx of Coal Tits and observations of several Firecrests, Yellow-browed Leafwarblers and Red-necked Phalaropes.
