The Black-legged Kittiwake is not a breeding bird on Texel  and also on the other wadden islands and the mainland. Yet it is a Dutch breeding bird ...... On drilling platforms in the North Sea there are some small colonies of this beautiful species. Further research has to show how many breeding pairs it is, but probably only a few hundred. During a survey of WMR (Wageningen Marine Research) on the Frisian Front, a maritime area located about 75 km north of Den Helder we sailed a long distance along a platform and a small colony of Black-legged Kittiwakes was visible.
