A second calendar year Griffon Vulture stayed from July 31 to August 3 2015 on Texel. The bird was placed in a shelter in Peralejo in Madrid, Spain on August 13, 2014. There he was ringed on January 11, 2015 (yellow R04) and released.
Remarkably, the same bird hangs around again on Texel from Saturday, May 21. Like last year the bird stays in 'De Ploegelanden'. This is an area in 'De Staatsbossen' (the State Forests). The coordinates of the location are apparently stored in the GPS of this scavenger.
The last few weeks were still some Red-footed Falcons, Ospreys and Black Kites observed after the peak of the raptor migration around May 8th. Also scarce migrators as Rosefinch, Golden Oriole and Red-backed Shrike were seen. The on May 13 discovered Great Knot was last reported on May 17 at 'De Volharding'.
