Griffon Vulture on Texel

On July 31 a young Griffon Vulture was seen on Texel. Coming from Den Helder the bird flew over the Marsdiep and ended up in the Staatsbossen near De Koog. When the ringed bird sat in a tree, the yellow ring could be clearly read off. RO4 is a bird ringed in Biscaia, northern Spain. On 2 August the bird departed Texel and was observed consecutively on the Wadden Islands Vlieland and Ameland. Last year, a Griffon Vulture also visited Texel. This bird was observed on August 1 and disappeared after a round on the island the same day heading south. It concerns the fifth record for Texel.

On August 1 and 2 were respectively 3 and 5 Black Storks seen. An Aquatic Warbler showed up in the evening of August 3 for only 15 minutes at the Mokbaai. Unfortunately, the bird was the next day without a trace. There is still regularly seen a Pacific Golden Plover in polder Het Noorden near Oost.
