surprisingly with a possible breeding pair of Lesser Spotted Woodpecker. Yesterday a calling bird was heard in the state forests by Marc Plomp of Vogelinformatiecentrum. Today I saw one bird and heard a little further a second bird.
Kleine Bonte Specht / Lesser Spotted Woodpecker Dendrocopos minor, adult vrouwtje / female, de Staatsbossen, De Koog, Texel, 13-03-2015
Slowly, the birds return from their winter quarters. At various places groups of Black-tailed Godwits were seen. The first Spoonbills are back in the Geul and the Muy. Also some Woodlarks sing again their melancholic song and White and Pied Wagtails let hear their metallic call. Today I saw my first Marsh Harrier from 2015. In short, it's going in the right direction.
