Over the past five days is again much to report. On Thursday, September 26th, a group of 23 flying Glossy Ibises was observed around the Mokbaai. This is the largest number ever seen on Texel. Friday a 2nd calendar White-tailed Eagle flew a round about Texel. Later that day a report came in from Kees de Mooij that he had seen a Lesser Spotted Woodpecker in the coastal strip at post 21. This concerns only the 5th observation for Texel of this woodpecker species! Saturday, September 28th early in the afternoon all alarm bells went off. Ruud van Beusekom had found a Blyth's Reed Warbler in Het Oude Krimbos (a small forest in De Cocksdorp)! The sound was heard good and the bird was initially quite see. Later that day, the contact call was occasionally still heard but it became increasingly difficult to catch a glimpse of the bird. Unfortunately, the bird was not found the next day. If accepted by the CDNA (Dutch rarities committee) this is the first sighting of this species on Texel! Besides this mega species there were some beautiful sightings of Barred Warbler, Common Rosefinch, Red Kite and Red Phalarope.
