April showers bring May flowers

Yes, spring is too cold and too wet, but fortunately the birds are not deterred and are returning to their breeding areas. The spring migration on Texel is disappointing. The wind is blowing from the wrong direction. Still, I expect a few nice days of migration in the coming weeks. In the meantime, there is of course plenty to see. The Sandwich Terns and Common Terns have largely returned. A beautiful group of Ruffs can be seen in polder Waalenburg. Songbirds such as Bluethroats, Reed Warblers and Willow Warblers are making themselves heard in abundance. And just now a White-tailed Eagle flew above Texel.
