Yesterday, August 28 a young White-tailed Eagle was discovered on Texel. The bird was first seen over the Netherlands at De Koog and later flew to the Noordkop where she sat for an hour on the Volharding. In the afternoon she was observed on the eastern side of the island several times. Today this giant bird of prey with a wingspan of nearly 2.50 meters was late in the afternoon recovered. Based on the rings to the legs could be identiefied that it concerns very likely a female that is ringed in the Biesbosch on 8 May this year. Thanks to Thomas van der Es from Staatsbosbeheer for the info. See also video Ringen jonge Zeearenden in Biesbosch
